St. Nicholas of Myra Orthodox Church is part of the GOC of America (Genuine Orthodox Christians of America ) and serves under the Omophorion of his Eminence, Metropolitan Pavlos of Astoria and is administered to by His Grace Bishop Demetrius of Boston.
The GOC of America is an Old Calendar autonomous eparchy serving the faithful of North and South America whose five hierarchs are members of the Holy Synod of the Church of the GOC of Greece, under the Presidency of His Beatitude Archbishop Kallinikos of Athens and All Greece. We follow the Patristic (Julian) Calendar and resist the heresy of Ecumenism.
In October of 2012 Bishop Demetrius of Boston visited the Baltimore MD and Washington area and at the request of many believers there, blessed the formation of a mission parish. Many Saints were considered for the naming of the mission, however by the grace of God, St. Nicholas of Myra was chosen as the patron of the Parish. A priest was now needed to tend to this flock. It was at this juncture that his Grace, Bishop Demetrius asked Fr. George (who at that time resided in Oregon and served under the omophorion of His Eminence, Metropolitan Moses of Portland) if he could move to Maryland and help the mission. Metropolitan Moses agreed to release Fr. George to be the parish priest for St. Nicholas. Fr. George, Presbytera Mary and their six children now live in Maryland and administer to the Parish there.
